Northern Care Alliance has partnered with employers across the region to give local job seekers the opportunity to explore a wide range of health and care opportunities under one roof. The events have been a huge success, giving attendees a space to network, ask questions and improve their employment prospects by signing up to local training and work experience programmes. The latest series of events attracted interest from over 1000 people in the Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford area. As a large NHS organisation, the events have enabled our teams to showcase a wide range of exciting employment opportunities, grow awareness of NHS careers and recruit directly on the day.

Brian attended our recent Oldham event and walked away with a Biomedical Support Worker job offer. After 25 years of employment with the same company Brian was made redundant. “It was quite daunting knowing I was going to be made redundant, it’s the first time in over 20 years I’ve done anything like this. It has put my mind at ease to know I’ve got a job offer.”

Abigail attended our last event in Rochdale and walked away with clear steps on progressing her NHS career: “I’ve found the event absolutely amazing. I’ve looked around the different stalls to find out the best fit for me, which is a career in Nursing. My long-term goal is to become a Nurse and after speaking to the Northern Care Alliance, I’ve been referred to the Princes Trust programme. I did a makeup course at college, but always knew after caring for my uncle and siblings, a career in Health and Social Care was for me.”

It is with thanks to our widening participation team, clinical and community services as well as our partner organisations, that hundred of people have been able to leave with a job, or a plan for a job over the past few months. We look forward to helping more local people in Greater Manchester to jump start their career in health and care as we plan more dates for the future.
